Pantoprazole reduces the amount of acid your stomach makes. It's used for heartburn, acid reflux and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) – GORD is when you keep getting acid reflux. It's also taken to prevent and treat stomach ulcers.

Pantoprazole is absorbed after oral administration as an enteric-coated tablet with maximum plasma concentrations attained within 2 – 3 hours and a bioavailability of 77% that does not change with multiple dosing ⁶. Following an oral dose of 40mg, the Cmax is approximately 2.5 μg/mL with a tmax of 2 to 3 hours.
